John Wooden: 1910 - 2010

Former UCLA emeritus basketball Coach John Wooden was known for winning championships, but for me his greatest accomplishment was his willingness, early in his career and before UCLA, to refuse invitationals that barred Black players and to hold his ground until those tournaments relented.
